Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper on Saturday attended the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in the nation’s capital, the first stop on a five-day, jet-setting trip that will take him from coast to coast.

The celebrity studded dinner celebrates the Washington media sphere and Hickenlooper went as a guest of Reuters, a news wire service. He made a cameo in the televised broadcast after President Barack Obama’s laugh line on Cuba. (See “President jokes at White House Correspondents Dinner”.)

His travel occurs just as the General Assembly hits the homestretch in the final full week — a week in which the governor wants lawmakers to consider .

Hickenlooper starts the week on the other coast in Los Angeles, where he will attend the Milken Institute Global Conference, .

The governor Monday with three other governors — Virginia Democrat Terry McAuliffe, North Carolina Republican Pat McCrory and Nebraska Republican Pete Ricketts — about “building a 21st century economy.” Ron Brownstein, the editorial director at Atlantic Media, is the moderator.

A day later, Hickenlooper will travel back to the East Coast for the 2015 Columbia Global Energy Summit in New York. He is Tuesday as part of the event, which features energy and financial industry leaders and EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy.

On Wednesday, Hickenlooper will travel halfway back West for an event in Kansas City, where he is at the Kansas City Chamber’s Polsinelli Public Policy Up Close speaker series about developing a business-friendly regional economy.

A Hickenlooper spokeswoman said all events are “focused on topics that are important to him and his leadership in Colorado.”

Hickenlooper is back in Denver on Thursday for a manufacturing forum. Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia leaves the same day for a two-day trip to Chicago to make remarks at the Strategy Labs State Policy Academy.
