Denver police on Tuesday identified the 18-year-old in the north-central part of the city Friday evening.
James Preston Flores is being held in the city’s downtown jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and vehicular eluding. He is accused of shooting to death 21-year-old Christopher Flores at about 5:45 p.m. on the 5100 block of Clarkson Street.
It was not immediately clear how, or if, the two men were related.
The city’s medical examiner’s office says Christopher Flores, who lived in Denver, died of multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at Denver Health Medical Center.
Detective Mary McIver told The Denver Post on Friday that James Flores fled the scene after the shooting but was apprehended after crashing his car on Interstate 25 near West 23rd Avenue.
“At this time, they have not informed of what relationship might exist between the suspect and the victim,” McIver said at the time.
