Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., speaks during a news conference in Washington on Wednesday. (Evan Vucci, The Associated Press)
Re: “Problems for poor enter the debate; Candidates talk of income inequality and helping those in need,” May 3 news story.
The Associated Press article addressing the various presidential candidates’ positions on income inequality had a glaring absence. There was no mention of presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, whose entire platform is based on addressing income inequality. The article did mention former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, a man who has not announced he is running for president.
This is a perfect example of how the press tries to pick and choose our electoral winners, giving coverage to some while excluding others.
