The plentiful rain of the past week is prompting Denver Water to release water from Ralston Reservoir, which will result in additional flows along Ralston Creek in Arvada this week.
Ralston and Arvada reservoirs are at or near capacity and the release from Ralston Reservoir, starting Monday, will result in some water running over the spillway at Arvada Reservoir and into the creek.
Flow along Ralston Creek will increase throughout the day to about 120 cubic feet per second. That compares to 1,000 cubic feet per second that was released from the reservoir during the historic 2013 flood.
Neither Denver Water nor Arvada anticipate any damage or flooding from this excess flow. Questions can be directed to Denver Water Media hotline at 303-628-6700.
