Interview with Jill Cross, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: It’s just something that I thought would be fun to do. I actually grew up in Seven Hills, right behind the trucking center, so I was born and raised in this town. Frozen yogurt seemed like a simple concept that I could do. My background is in TV production, not restaurant management, but it seemed like something fun to do, and it has been.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: We try to keep our prices low and affordable. We also have a really cool virtual, interactive game inside that shop called EyeClick that attracts kids and, really, people of all ages. It’s a projector from the ceiling and it’s a big hit.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: It’s a fun atmosphere, and I really enjoy talking to the customers and making sure that everyone is happy and wants to come back. It’s just a fun job and a great, family-friendly environment.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Getting through the winter months when business is so slow. People don’t really buy frozen yogurt when it’s cold outside. During those cold months, we try to get outside of the store and do events like sporting events and different things to bring in more revenue.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: Yo Craze is locally owned and operated. I grew up in Aurora and graduated from Eaglecrest High School. Yo Craze is not a franchise, I created it and designed it myself. I also own a taekwondo school in the area called ATA Karate Denver. I’ve been doing taekwondo for 21 years. I actually own two locations in the metro area.
