COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A small drone from Fort Carson got a little lost before crashing in a Colorado Springs man’s backyard.

The Gazette of Colorado Springs reports (http://bit.ly/1EGf7zw ) that Ronald Fisk found a 4-pound RQ-11 Raven drone Tuesday near his yard in downtown.

Fort Carson officials say the drone, about the size of a model plane, was flying within Army and FAA regulations when a data link to the craft was lost.

Fisk tried holding his phone number in front of the attached camera, hoping the owner would call. When that didn’t work he called police. Fisk says Fort Carson soldiers arrived later in the afternoon to retrieve the craft.

Raven crashes occur on every flight. The plane is designed to stall out at low altitude and fall where soldiers can recover it.
