
1 Thank you note. A little girl’s bike was stolen from her mother’s front yard in the 2900 block of Jasper Street. When the victim woke up May 1, she found a note on her front door that said, “Thank you so much for the bicycle, it was very kind of you. My granddaughters will love it.”
2 Follow the trail. Residents in the 18800 block of East Montview Boulevard called police April 30 because a man was driving his truck through Montview Park. The car left liquid trails, which police followed to a truck parked at a nearby home. The owner of the truck wouldn’t cooperate, so the truck was impounded.
3 Graffiti expert. A man who lives in the 3800 block of South Helena Way called police April 29 because he noticed some silver graffiti in the neighborhood. He described the illegible tags to officers as “half-hearted” and “amateur,” and so he wanted it removed.
4 No collateral. A taxi driver called police to the 100 block of South Joliet Circle because a customer didn’t pay him April 20. The suspect said she left her wallet upstairs and would be right back. The driver asked to hang on to her bags. The suspect refused and then left.
5 Volleyball robber. Several people at the Island at 2233 S. Geneva St. reported that their coats or wallets or cell phones were stolen while they were playing volleyball at the bar April 29.
6 Unattended tools. A man who installs floors had the passenger window of his work truck broken while he was working in the 900 block of North Potomac Street. The thieves took nearly $2,000 worth of tools from the truck April 30.
