Downtown’s free, family-friendly live music event will likely always be called . But its nonprofit parent, Amp the Cause, recently changed its name from Concerts for Kids to let people know it doesn’t do only that.

Still, Day of Rock, which takes place on the 16th Street Mall and Skyline Park with 25 local and national acts on five stages on May 23, is Amp’s largest annual fundraiser that helps it support another 50 children’s and family nonprofits through donations.

Acts such as Mat Kearney, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Moon Taxi, Megan Burtt and Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers are expected to draw about 100,000 music fans from 2:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the all-ages event. denverdayofrock.com.
