The University of Denver on Thursday rededicated one of its most historic structures in honor of the nearly 500 military veterans who are part of the student body.
Buchtel Chapel, named in 1949 for former university chancellor Henry Buchtel, is now the Buchtel Memorial Tower. Officials said the rededication demonstrates the university’s commitment to the men and women who have served in the military.
The university also announced two initiatives related to veterans.
• The Sturm Family Foundation and the Graduate School of Professional Psychology have created a new specialty education and training track — the Sturm Speciality in Military Psychology — with dedicated clinical services for veterans.
• Donald Sturm, DU trustee and a graduate of the DU law school, also announced the creation of the Veterans Advocacy Project at the Sturm College of Law, which will provide legal advice and services to assist with the legal issues many veterans face.
