Parks advocate Jolon Clark beat state employee Aaron Greco in Denver’s City Council District 7 runoff Tuesday.

The latest returns showed Clark with 54 percent of the vote to Greco’s 46 percent — a showing that was closer than some expected given the results in the initial election on May.

Clark then , receiving 26 percent of the vote, but he failed to get more than 50 percent, leading to a runoff with Greco, who received 16 percent.

Clark, an associate director with the Greenway Foundation and a resident of Platt Park, picked up the backing of .

Greco, who works for the Colorado Department of Transportation, lives in the Baker neighborhood.

During a taping of , Clark hinted at Greco’s political ambitions and said he wasn’t interested in higher office. Greco has worked for Congressmen Ed Perlmutter and John Salazar.

District 7 is currently represented by Chris Nevitt, who ran for city auditor but to Tim O’Brien on May 5.
