A former substitute teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools, who previously taught at Littleton Public Schools, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of sexual assault on a child, according to court records.
Matthew Edward Lonie, 35, remained in Jefferson County jail accused of child sex assault by one in a position of trust on Monday in lieu of $35,000 bail.
A heavily redacted arrest affidavit says that the county sheriff’s office was notified on May 25 of the possible sexual assault of a young girl. A person whose name was blacked out in the document said that Lonie had sexually touched the child “at least four times” previously.
