Let’s just say it: Everybody got a late start gardening this spring. But that means the blooms are all the sweeter for having been long anticipated.
So why not enter to win one of two flower photo contest prizes: A $50 or $25 gift certificate to your favorite garden center? With that seed money, you could: Replace a rose. Plant towering tomatoes. Renovate your turf. Install masses of mums. Lure butterflies and bees … the list goes on.
Here’s what you need to do: Shoot your best flowers or your neighbor’s, or that wildflower bloom on your next hike. There are two ways to share it with our readers and other gardeners: Go to and post it on our Neighbors blog. If you don’t yet have an account there, leave a couple extra days for your account to go through.
The second way is on Twitter: Simply tweet your photo with the hashtag #dpgarden — and you’ll find links to all our other garden content there, too. And you’ll need to respond when we contact you via e-mail or Twitter to verify that it’s your photo.
But you’ve got only until midnight June 14 to enter. And we all know blooms are fleeting, so shoot them while they last.
