Wheat Ridge police on Monday arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder in connection with a shooting last week.
Christopher Owen Martin was arrested early Monday in a camper trailer at a recreational vehicle sales lot. Police say Martin had a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest.
Martin is accused of firing “numerous shots” at a man — an acquaintance — Thursday on the 4600 block of Saulsbury Street, authorities say. Police say Martin walked up to the man as he was putting lawn equipment into his shed and opened fire.
The man was not injured.
“We’ve been actively looking for him,” acting Cmdr. JD Jepkema told The Denver Post. “It turns out he was probably hiding in there the entire time. We’ve wanted him pretty bad.”
Police say Martin is being held at the Jefferson County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
