Officials said that at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers responded to the 11100 block of Huron Street on the report of a man with a gun.

When they arrived, the officers located a person matching the description of the suspect. As they attempted to make contact, the suspect began firing at officers but missed, officials said.

Officers returned fire, striking the suspect.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said. The suspect’s condition was not released.

No officer was injured.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
