Two people were killed and four injured when a dust storm set off a seven-vehicle crash on U.S.287 just south of Lamar on Wednesday night.
Xiao Feng, 53, of Dallas, was driving northbound when he entered the dust storm and stopped, according to Colorado State Patrol. A semi-tractor pulling a trailer then struck Feng’s vehicle, killing him. Another five vehicles piled up behind the initial accident, resulting in the death of Caryol Heckman, 75, of McClave. Four others were injured. At least one person was airlifted from the scene.
The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the road was not fully re-opened until 9:30 Thursday morning.
