A notorious Denver gang member, who was paralyzed in a high-profile 2013 shooting, was acquitted Thursday of six counts, including first-degree attempted murder, .
The verdict was returned after less than an hour of deliberation following a three-day trial for Hasan Jones, 24, who was charged in the May 2014 shooting that left a man wounded.
“We are a little surprised,” said Lynn Kimbrough, a spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney’s Office. “We are disappointed, but appreciated the jury’s time and work on this case.”
In 2013, Jones was shot multiple times in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood. Roberts says the shooting was in self defense.
Roberts is awaiting trial in the case.
