Arvada police late Sunday were looking for a dark sedan suspected in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 61-year-old man as he was crossing Sheridan Boulevard.

“He was crossing the street, nothing in his hands,” Arvada Police Sgt. Bob Vanderveen said at the scene.”We’re working on a fatal hit-and-run accident.”

The police said the pedestrian, who was not named, died upon impact. He was crossing Sheridan westbound near 82nd Avenue.

A suspect vehicle apparently was southbound on Sheridan and struck the pedestrian, police said, then continued southbound on Sheridan and turned west on 80th Avenue.

Coroner’s investigators were at the scene.

“We’re looking for a dark colored sedan, possibly a Honda,” Vanderveen said. “There was a driver side mirror that belongs to a Honda Accord at the scene.”
