Interview with Alina Shagaeva, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: When I was 9 years old, I always liked to sew on my mom’s sewing machine. But the most interesting for me was to disassemble and assemble this machine. I took a few classes on sewing and design and worked at a clothing factory in Europe (Germany) and the United States. Once, I sewed a skirt for my daughter. One of her friends said she dreamed of such a skirt. I made another and we presented it to her for Christmas. Then she said that I needed to open a small business and make skirts like this. It’s always been my dream to start my own tailoring business. Finally, my dream came true!
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: I specialize in all type of alterations and tailoring services. I can guarantee lowest price and high quality. I can alter your new or old jeans and make a new denim skirt. I can alter your new or old jeans and make new fashion jeans. I provide a full service for home decor, from measuring to curtains installation. I have lots of fabric samples in my studio. Our capabilities and low prices are pleasantly surprising. Special services include delivery and measuring in your home, and pick up. Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I like everything I do. There is no job too big or too small for me. But since I’m a creative person, most of all I love working with the design of curtains and home decor.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: My goal is to develop the business by providing five-star service. No matter the weather or the mood of a customer, no matter that it’s just one button or several thousands — I will always try provide five-star service. Even a small business like mine can provide high-quality service.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: I try not to surprise my customers — I’m just trying to make them happy — but my customers have always surprised me with their help, their tenderness, their friendly attitude and a smile. I want to sincerely thank all my customers and I appreciate all they have done for me and my small business.
