A cooler Friday with a slight chance of storms is likely to lead into a warmer, drier weekend for Denver residents.

Temperatures are expected to range in the upper 70s to 80 degrees on Friday, said National Weather Service meteorologist Bernie Meier. The average temperature on June 26 for Denver is 86 degrees, Meier said.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms, Meier said, adding that they would hit closer to the foothills, if at all, later in the day.

As of Friday morning, flood warnings along the Arkansas River in Pueblo and Otero counties were canceled, the weather service said.

Meier said the weekend looks to be fairly dry with temperature warming back up to the mid-80s.

Sunday could see a 20 percent chance of storms in the evening, he said.

As for next week, Meier could not predict whether any large storms were headed Denver’s way again.

“There will be a few thunderstorms around, but we’re not seeing anything well-defined just yet,” he said.
