Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey formally charged a man accused of assaulting a Denver sheriff’s deputy at a taco festival last weekend, officials said.
Michael A. Martinez, 35, is charged with second-degree assault on a peace officer, the release said, after an intoxicated Martinez hit a deputy who was trying to guide him out of the Denver Taco Festival at 35th and Wynkoop streets on June 27.
Martinez was taken into custody without further incident, the release said.
Martinez has been released from custody on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 2100 on July 15, at 1:30 p.m. for his second advisement, the release said.
