Re: “Put political campaigning in perspective,” June 29 Colorado Voices column.

Michael J. Alcorn’s column brought tears to my eyes. When a 14-year-old boy in Mexico who lives in an orphanage spends his $25 Walmart gift card on the stray dog who’s become like family to him, it proves one simple fact. No matter what he’s been through, he still has the capacity to empathize and love. The stray dog is the lucky recipient of that. The world community should never give up on all the orphans, because the ability to love is in there and just needs a little help to find the way out.
