
Boosted by its national championship in lacrosse, the University of Denver finished fifth in the Capital One Cup men’s standings for the 2014-15 school year.
Virginia, which finished with 149 points, captured its first Capital One Cup, awarded annually to the best men’s and women’s NCAA Division I college athletics programs for cumulative performance in competition.
The Cavaliers’ strong school year was highlighted by national championships in baseball and men’s soccer.
Oregon (121 points) placed second, followed by Ohio State (93½), Florida (84) and Denver (72). More than 100 schools earned points during the school year.
In addition to winning the first national lacrosse championship by a school outside the Eastern time zone, DU had top-10 finishes in men’s skiing and ice hockey.
DU placed 19th in the Capital One Cup men’s standings for the 2013-14 school year.
