Now that 4th of July festivities are over, it’s time to think about new places to party. Mark your calendars for the 7th Annual Tasty Colfax festival on July 14, where you can taste test lots of restaurants, including three new places.
Teresa St. Peter’s much-anticipated (2504 E. Colfax Ave.) features American farmstead and artisanal cheeses. It’s got a cheese counter with about 100 cheeses plus a cheese lounge, tastings, and cheese-making classes. It’s a cool urban hub for the great American cheese renaissance.
Lula Rose General Store (3434 E. Colfax Ave.) is a coffee shop with craft coffee, plus handy things that neighbors might need, an updated twist on the nostalgic general stores that once dotted America.
Its owner, Oliver Miller-Finkel, named the shop for his great-aunt Lula Rose, who was a flower arranger in Alabama — the Denver building was formerly a flower shop.
And then there’s the , a popular cafe that closed last year in the Baker neighborhood and is relocating to a space at Colfax and Madison. The building won’t quite be ready by Tasty Colfax, but they’ll have a presence there — look for them at Lost Lake (3602 E. Colfax Ave.) Summer is a great time for pies, and they’ll have a good selection of their scratch-made sweet pies.
The new trio of eateries will be part of the restaurant crawl that includes more than 15 local restaurants.
Tickets bought in advance are $25 per person at TastyColfax.com and those bought at the festival are $30.
