Larimer County authorities have arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of “slashing” two people on Sunday night in Fort Collins.

Abad Leon is being held in the case on suspicion of failure to comply on an aggravated motor vehicle theft charge and two counts of first-degree assault.

County sheriff’s deputies were called about 7 p.m. to 2025 North College Ave. on a report of a man bleeding from his head.

“Upon their arrival, deputies found a 25-year-old man with several slash injuries to various areas of his body, including his head and hands,” the county sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The man was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment.

“A second (man) received a slash injury to his right arm when he attempted to intervene on behalf of the original victim,” the release said. “He received medical attention on scene but was not transported to a hospital.”

Witnesses identified Leon as a suspect and he was arrested a short distance from where the two men were slashed.

The sheriff’s office said specific information about the weapon Leon allegedly used is being withheld as part of an investigation into the assaults.
