Olympic champion swimmer Missy Franklin won an ESPY for Best Female College Athlete after leading California-Berkeley to a 2015 NCAA team championship and picking up additional titles in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke and individual medley.

Franklin announced in March that she would leave Cal after two years .




The four-time Olympic gold medalist returned to Colorado for the summer to train with longtime coach, Todd Schmitz, and the Colorado Stars. After the world championships in Kazan, Russia, in August, she will re-evaluate her training options in preparation for the 2016 Olympics.
