, the fast-food chain known for its chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and , has broken ground on its latest outpost in the Denver metro area: 36th Avenue and Quebec Street in Stapleton.
The Stapleton restaurant, projected to open in December, is one of 88 restaurants the chain plans to open nationwide in 2015, corporate officials said. Currently, there are more than 40 Chick-fil-A locations in Colorado. This will be the third in Denver city limits.
Even better news for the chain’s fans: Chick-fil-A plans to celebrate the grand opening of this store the same way it did stores in , , , and more in 2014.
That’s right, there will be a chance to win free Chick-fil-A for a year — if you’re willing to camp out for up to 24 hours. (For the record, free Chick-fil-A for a year means 52 meals consisting of Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, medium waffle fries and a medium drink.)
When Denver’s second Chick-fil-A opened on Colfax Avenue last year, there were 125 people in line by 6 a.m. of opening day. (If there are , the chain uses a raffle to pick winners.)
That’s nothing, though, compared to the folks who camped out to celebrate the grand opening of the Greenwood Village restaurant — in the snow.
A heavy spring snow storm collapsed some tents — but not the spirits — of almost 100 people camped out for the Chick-Fil-A grand opening in Greenwood Village in 2014. (Denver Post file)
Since the First 100 events began in October 2003, Chick-fil-A has given away almost $24 million in free food, officials said.
