Forecasters are calling for a hot, dry day in Denver on Thursday as a period of blue skies and rising temperatures continues.

The National Weather Service in Boulder says skies will be mostly sunny with temperatures topping out near 93 degrees.

“Today will be a hot and dry day across northern Colorado, with highs in the lower to mid 90s on the plains and 70s and 80s in the mountains,” the weather service said in a forecast bulletin.

Thunderstorms are possible over the mountains from around Interstate 70 southward, a few of which may drift into the foothills south of the city Thursday evening, forecasters say.

From Friday through Wednesday, there will be a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms each day, except on Saturday and Tuesday when the chance for storms will increase.

“Temperatures will remain near to above average through Monday, then lower to below average on Tuesday and Wednesday following the passage of a weak cold front,” the bulletin said.

A high of 92 degrees is expected on Friday, with highs of 90 on Saturday and 92 on Sunday.
