Colorado Springs police officers responding early Friday to reports of a house burglary arrived to find the home’s front door ablaze.

Police were called about 12:30 a.m. to the 900 block of Green Start Drive on reports of a burglary in progress.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered that the door to the residence had been set on fire,” police said. “Officers were able to extinguish the fire and contact the victim inside”

Officials say through an investigation they identified Gordon Millard, a 55-year-old neighbor of the victim, as a suspect.

Police say he was taken into custody without incident.
