Colorado Springs police say a boy is in critical condition at a Denver-area hospital after being shot Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex.

The shooting happened about 1:45 p.m. at the Pine Creek Village Apartments on the 700 block of Chapman Drive.

“Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male in the stairwell area of the apartment suffering from a gunshot wound,” police said. “The victim was transported to a local hospital and transferred to a Denver-area hospital.”

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
