A 65-year-old Aurora man was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 70 in Eagle County.

The Colorado State Patrol says the crash happened about 7:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near Dotsero when a 2003 Subaru Forester drove off the left side of the roadway.

“The Subaru rotated off the right side of the interstate, down an embankment, where it began to roll,” the State Patrol said in a news release. “The Subaru then rolled across both lanes of (U.S. 6) before coming to rest on the south side of (U.S. 6) on its roof.”

Authorities say the Subaru’s driver, a 71-year-old Aurora woman, was wearing her seatbelt and sustained minor injuries in the wreck.

The Aurora man killed in the crash was ejected from the Subaru, the State Patrol says. Authorities said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

“The name of the driver and passenger are being withheld pending next of kin notification,” the release said. “Alcohol or drugs are not being suspected as contributing factors in this crash.”

Officials say the crash remains under investigation.
