
1 Chewbacca attacked by dog. A woman told police her puppy named Chewbacca was attacked by a bullmastiff on July 22 outside of her trailer in the 1400 block of Allison Street in Lakewood. A neighbor was cited for the incident, and the dog was impounded. Cost of treatment Chewbacca received was estimated at more than $500.
2 Bad daddy. On Aug. 1, officers responded to a report of a 4-year-old boy riding his bicycle unattended in the middle of the roadway in the 2400 block of Pierce Street in Edgewater. When the officers contacted the child’s 40-year-old father asleep in a nearby apartment unit, he was issued a summons for child abuse.
3 Arrestee threatens officer, friend. A man arrested on several outstanding warrants resisted arrest and threatened to kill an officer and a family friend July 28 at a residence in the 1500 block of South Lamar Street, Lakewood.
4 Thief lies, arrested on warrant. On July 29, officers responded to Target, 1985 Sheridan Blvd., Edgewater, regarding a shoplifting incident. Although the suspect provided the officers with a false name, they were able to confirm his identity. In addition, the suspect was arrested for an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance and child abuse.
5 Uncle steals nephew’s iPhone. On July 3, a man reported that his homeless uncle stole his iPhone 6 and that he would like to pursue charges. He said his uncle was at his house in the 1600 block of South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, and asked to use the phone, but promptly left with it and never returned. No further information.
