A man arrested in a fiery hit-and-run crash that killed one and injured two in Denver’s Sunnyside neighborhood Monday has been charged with first-degree murder.
In addition, the Denver district attorney’s office said Ricardo Gardea, 25, faces charges of second-degree burglary, vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident, among other counts.
The charges stem from a crash in which Gardea is accused of slamming into a Jeep, causing an explosion and fire that witnesses said engulfed the Jeep’s occupants.
, was killed in the crash.
Investigators said Gardea crashed into four other vehicles and fled the scene.
He is being held without bail.
