Grand Junction police on Saturday arrested a 23-year-old suspected of shooting a man in his face late last month.
Anthony James Romero faces allegations of first-degree assault and attempted second-degree murder in the July 31 shooting in Grand Junction’s Riverside neighborhood, police say.
Romero was arrested by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office after he was spotted in the neighborhood where the July shooting happened.
Officials say he Romero fled when authorities tried to contact him. Romero also faces charges in the alleged pursuit, including vehicular eluding, possession of an illegal weapon, driving under restraint and reckless driving.
