Friday is looking to be a scorcher in Denver with an expected high of 92 degrees, forecasters said.

The hot afternoon could receive some rain showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., but the National Weather Service said the day would be mostly sunny.

Some slight afternoon breezes ranging from 5 to 7 mph could take the edge off the heat, the weather service said, until later Friday night when temperatures are expected to fall to a low around 64 degrees.

There’s a 20 percent chance storms could hit the metro area before midnight, the weather service said.
