Abraham Lincoln promoted assistant basketball coach Dre Calloway as the head coach on Tuesday morning.
The Abraham Lincoln grad replaces his former longtime successful coach Vince Valdez, .
Athletic director Leroy Lopez said: “We interviewed about five different people, and had some really good candidates. But with his (Calloway) connections to the community, the staff and former players, we needed to continue that with what he had done.”‘
Calloway played a team under Valdez.
