Friday. Academy Award-winning filmmaker Daniel Junge, who is based in Denver, tackled an ostensibly lighter but equally compelling subject for his latest documentary, “Being Evel.” With interviews from admirers Johnny Knoxville, George Hamilton, Tony Hawk and more, Junge delves into the life of daredevil sports performer Evel Knievel, whose death-defying stunts were matched only by his flare for circus-like self-promotion in the late 1960s and ’70s. Produced by Junge, Knoxville and “Jackass” director Jeff Tremaine, the kinetic film debuts at the Sie FilmCenter on Aug. 21 and runs various times through Thursday. Co-writer and producer Davis Coombe will be at the 7 p.m. shows Friday and Saturday for a post-screening Q&A. 2510 E. Colfax Ave. $9-$11. 303-595-3456 or .
