Residents will get a chance Wednesday to sound off on a $269 million proposal to relieve congestion on C-470 in Denver’s southern suburbs that includes adding a tolled express lane.
The public hearing will allow the public to review and comment on the plan’s revised environmental assessment. The meeting will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lone Tree Arts Center, 10075 Commons Street in Lone Tree.
The meeting will be a drop-in, open-house format with a formal presentation given at 6 p.m. Members of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s C-470 project team will be available to answer questions.
A court reporter will be available for people who want to make a formal statement regarding the project and have it included in the official transcript of the public meeting.
Participants will also have the opportunity to fill out comment forms and leave them at the meeting in designated comment boxes.
The comment period for the environmental assessment will continue through Sept. 11.
The complete environmental assessment document is also available at . Comments can be submitted online.
The proposal includes adding one tolled express lane to the westbound side of C-470 between I-25 and Wadsworth Boulevard; adding one tolled express lane to the eastbound side of the highway between the South Platte River and I-25; and adding a second westbound toll lane between I-25 and Colorado Boulevard.
CDOT hopes to fund the project using state and federal sources as well as funds from Douglas County and loans that will be repaid by tolls collected from the toll lanes.
