A Jefferson County jury Tuesday decided Warren Dale Watson was guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Lakewood attorney Claudia Miller two years ago, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Watson, 54, planned for months to find a female family-law attorney whom he could rob.
Watson, who was on parole at the time, called Miller using a false name, and told her he was a doctor, according to the district attorney’s office. He met Miller at her office on March 5, 2013. Police found her body in a storage room that evening. She had been beaten, had suffered vaginal trauma and had been strangled to death.
The jury found him guilty of three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of sexual assault, robbery and identity theft. Watson has seven prior felony convictions.
A habitual criminal trial has been scheduled for 8 a.m. Sept. 2.
