Getting your player ready...

Like most college football players, Massachusetts quarterback Blake Frohnapfel has dreams of being in the NFL. But unlike most college football players, Frohnapfel’s ambition isn’t necessarily to be on the field.

“If the NFL would have me as a player, that would be fine,” Frohnapfel said. “But I’ve always dreamed of being a general manager in the NFL.”

Before he turns his attention to joining an NFL front office, Frohnapfel’s sights are on completing his career as Massachusetts’ quarterback. The senior leads his team into Boulder for UMass’ opener Saturday.

A year ago at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., the Minutemen were huge underdogs but gave CU all it could handle in a 41-38 loss.

“That was only my second college start,” said Frohnapfel, who spent most of his college career as a backup quarterback at Marshall.

Against Colorado, the 6-foot-6, 238-pounder threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns. For the season, he had 23 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions.

Frohnapfel said the near upset of the Buffs was a learning experience.

“It helped us learn how to finish a game,” Frohnapfel said.

The Minutemen finished 3-9.
