Marcelo Sarvas was dressed in street clothes outside the locker room immediately following the on Saturday night. It was the first game he’s missed since May 30.
“He’s dealing with a little inflammation in his knee so he wasn’t available for the game tonight,” Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni said after the match.
Sarvas played 90 minutes in the on Wednesday. He had played at least 45 minutes in 14 consecutive matches (13 starts).
Earlier this season, Sarvas missed seven matches after . Mastroeni did not say how severe this most recent injury was, but said he didn’t think it was the same knee that was operated on in April.
“I think it’s a different knee,” Mastroeni said.
Acquired in an offseason trade with Los Angeles Galaxy, Sarvas has played 1,589 minutes this season in 20 games (18 starts), scoring one goal and adding an assist.
