There will be no criminal charges against a man who after the bruin got into a fight with his dog in the man’s back yard.

The incident happened Aug. 20 and was investigated by the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Investigators have determined that all criminal charges against Andrew Richards are dropped, according to a Larimer County DA’s media release.

“As winter approaches, encounters with bears, even in an urban setting, are quite common,” the release said. “If a bear is spotted, residents are urged to keep their pet indoors, avoid contact with the bear” and immediately call local law enforcement or wildlife officials.
