Denver police have arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of first-degree murder in outside a strip club on East Colfax Avenue.
Stephen Futrell is also suspected of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, city prosecutors say. He has been formally charged in the case.
Authorities say Futrell was involved in an altercation with 29-year-old Jeremy Garcia inside PT’s Showclub, on the 8300 block of East Colfax Avenue, and later .
A bartender at the club told police that Futrell and Garcia had to be separated after the two began arguing, according to an arrest warrant.
The warrant says Futrell was a regular at the strip club who went by the name “Magic.”
Futrell is being held at Denver’s downtown jail without bond. He is expected to appear in court next week to be formally advised of the charges.
Garcia died of multiple gunshot wounds, the city’s medical examiner’s office said.
