To most of us, “social gaming” equals online multiplayer sessions in Destiny, or tracking the leaderboards on candy-colored mobile games.

At the , it’s about honest-to-God, in-person interaction. The event, which takes place 5-11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Sie FilmCenter on East Colfax Avenue, will blanket the lobby with a meet-and-greet mixer (local craft beer, popcorn and more will be available) and group gaming sessions before the main event: a screening of at 7:30 p.m.

“E-sports, independent games and virtual reality continue to boom,” said organizer Jet Ternlund, president of the expo’s sponsor, Limn Interactive. “Get a taste here in Colorado… meet individuals from the IGDA (International Game Developers Association) and local game development studios.”
