Pueblo police have arrested a suspect in the slaying of a man this month who authorities say behind his home.

Timothy Tafoya, 21, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder in the of 32-year-old Ricky Muniz.

“Officers following leads and a number of tips were able to locate Tafoya in a southside pueblo home,” police said. “After surrounding the home and … one hour of negotiations, Tafoya was arrested without incident.”

Tafoya is being held without bond, police say.

Muniz was fatally shot near the 1800 block of East Routt Avenue as he went to confront the graffiti-painting group who were vandalizing Muniz’s property, investigators say.

Pueblo police say they have been working with federal agents and prosecutors in their city which has been blamed for several recent shootings, some of them fatal.

More than 150 people took part Saturday in an anti-gang march following raids by federal, state and local authorities focusing on gang-related crime that netted 47 arrests and four stolen vehicles.
