Pueblo authorities said Wednesday two men are suspected in a scheme to bring heroin into the county jail.
Israel Morales, 20, and Channse Lowe, 24, are accused of several felony counts in the case, including first-degree conspiracy to introduce contraband and charges linked to heroin distribution.
The county sheriff’s office began investigating the scheme after officers learned two female suspects allegedly dropped a package of heroin near an area where inmates had access.
An “investigation revealed the package was intended to be picked up by ‘trustee’ inmates,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Authorities say the two female suspects are still under investigation and may also face criminal charges.
