Saturday. The city of Arvada’s relatively modest Festival of Scarecrows offers no fake blood-spattered zombies, laser lights or booming soundtracks. It does, however, feature a kids costume parade, local community and food vendors, live music, karaoke for all ages and contests galore, including scarecrow costumes and pumpkins (both out-of-the-garden and the baked kind). Stroll through Olde Town Arvada, pick up a pumpkin and something warm to drink, and let the kids catch a hayride or navigate the cone maze. 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Oct. 10 along 57th Avenue, Grant Place and throughout Olde Town. Limited parking in Olde Town, with overflow in the Vineyard and Vance lots down the hill. Free shuttle available. Free admission. 720-898-7403 or .
