Valor Christian’s Brooke Stenstrom has committed to Stanford swimming.
The sprinter is the Class 4A defending state champion in the 50-yard freestyle and has deep ties to Stanford. She was raised in Menlo Park, Calif., which accounts for much of the Stanford western border.
Plus, her father, Steve Stenstrom, a 1994 graduate, was a Cardinal quarterback and mother, Lori Heisick, a ’93 graduate, was a swimmer.
Stenstrom, who also competes for the Denver Swim Academy, told the swimswam websites: “I feel so blessed to have the amazing opportunity to represent Stanford as well as continue the Stanford legacy in my family. It is a dream come true.”
The past summer, Stenstrom also became the first 50 free Futures champion on the west coast, in Mount Hood Ore.
