
Arapahoe County authorities announced the arrest Tuesday of a wanted 57-year-old man linked to the slaying of a woman found in a burning Strasburg home.
Andrew Ausmus is suspected of first-degree murder in the death of his ex-wife, 57-year-old Teresa Ausmus. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said that he was arrested in Denver after a witness spotted him near Confluence Park.
Teresa Ausmus was found in the home in the 4100 block of South County Road 157 after a passer-by saw flames and smoke and alerted authorities around 1:10 a.m. Saturday.
The county coroner has not said how Teresa Ausmus died.
Teresa and Andrew Ausmus were divorced in ealy 2014, according to family.
The station also says court documents show Teresa Ausmus filed several restraining orders against her ex-husband in the past several years alleging him to be a highly abusive alcoholic.
Some of the restraining orders were sought after the divorce, the station reported.
