When we settle in to watch our beloved Broncos each week, one burning question always pops up: What kind of music do these guys listen to?
We had to know. So, The Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala asked ten Denver Broncos about the songs and artists that get their horses neighing, or at the very least their speakers rattling. Over the coming weeks, we’ll share their answers and pull them together at the end into one glorious playlist, so you can go all “Eye Of The Tiger” in your next flag football game.
Today’s player:
T.J. Ward, Saftey
Favorite Artists: and Iamsu!
T.J. Ward is the Bay Area, through and through. He was born in San Francisco, attended high school some 30 miles away, has a Golden State Warrior tattoo on his torso and often prefers artists from the West Coast. These days his headphones are booming RJ and Iamsu!, two artists from California whose mixtape hit “Get Rich” is a favorite among many Broncos players.
But Ward, one of the team’s more animated players when the music blares, doesn’t limit his playlist. Take a tour of and you’ll hear a handful of the melodies he’s into. Take a look at him on the practice field and you’ll see he’s not shy about getting in a few dance moves in between drills.

Analysis:
With the exception of Future’s trap-heavy “Stick Talk,” T.J. Ward’s picks highlight a pair of new faces with old-school flavor. RJ and Choice’s “Get Rich” bears the early Death Row Records feel born out of their native Compton, complete with that high-register synth synonymous with Dr. Dre’s Nef The Pharaoh’s influences come 10 years later, sporting a flow you could imagine hearing from a. No surprise he’s usually compared to artists off of Cash Money’s early roster.
Speaking of, that’s the other theme here. All of Ward’s tracks are about chasing the almighty dollar, and more often than not, dangling it over some poor sucker’s head (From RJ and Choice’s “Get Rich”: “I’mma be richer than you”). Credit where it’s due, Ward does do some good with his money: His is dedicated to supporting youth programs, and he did help bring Adam Sandler’s “The Waterboy” back to theaters for . Now, if we could only get a monthly “Billy Madison” night.
