A man, who asked not to be identified, panhandles on March 18, at the intersection of 11th and Pearl Streets in Boulder. (Jeremy Papasso, Daily Camera)
Re: “Denver proposes rollback of panhandling rules in response to rulings,” Oct. 21 news story.
On every bus in RTD’s fleet is a poster describing the consequences of creating a disturbance on the bus. Such a disturbance may cause interference with the operation of public transportation — a serious crime, as passengers’ lives could be in jeopardy. Panhandling on a public bus or train could create such a situation.
If you have reservations regarding the possible outcome of panhandling on public transportation, perhaps a ride on the 15 or 15L will confirm my concerns. I urge the Denver City Council to consider this in its effort to roll back panhandling rules.
